The Sunday morning rehearsal on 6th April will be in the hall.  Other rehearsals are: 2 pm on Thursday, 10th, Sunday morning after the service on 13th and 7 PM on Thursday, 17 April.

KINDNESS COMPETITION:  Chowbent Chapel are running a competition on the theme of kindness with Chowbent Primary School. Funding from Ansdell Unitarian, in memory of the Late Nancy Boardman (a former Chowbenter)  will more than cover the cost of the first year and it is expected that further funding will be available from NELUM to enable the competition to run for a second year.  On the 4th May instead of the usual service in chapel, our service will take place in the hall with the added bonus of those present getting to look through all the amazing entries from the children and pick the winners!

WARM SPACES: In January we held coffee mornings with funding obtained by our student minister, Tina. Thank you to our lovely volunteers who kept us stocked up with hot drinks and toasted teacakes. We all had a great time playing games! We didn’t have a huge turnout, which is expected as it was our first one. Afterwards, Tina met with Darron, the minister at Salvation Army; he suggested we move it to Tuesdays as that’s when they’re shut, so he’ll direct his people to us. With this in mind going forward our coffee mornings will be on Tuesdays,

Now on Tuesdays, we will provide a weekly coffee morning from 10.30 am until 12 noon on 4, 11 and 25 February.  The mornings are open to all ages with free refreshments available, plus newspapers, games such as dominoes, a knitting table and toys/ colouring books for young children.

SAFEGUARDING:  The service held on February 2nd will cover Safeguarding and will explain why it is needed and why it is everyone's responsibility. Please try to attend if you can.

CAROL SERVICE:  The Carol Service took place on 22 December.  It was so well attended we ran out of Orders of Service.  There were readings by members of the congregation and special items by the choir.  For the first time in a number of years we had children to sing the first verse of Once in Royal David’s City.  Joshua and Jonah Lee, grandchildren of Lynne and John Readett sang beautifully and then joined  Tina’s children, Anoushka (age 6) and Rohan (age 4) dressed as Mary and Joseph, and other children from the congregation singing “Away in a Manger”.  Everyone was delighted with their contribution.

After the service members met for tea, coffee and mince pies and the raffle raised £67.  Rev Catherall presented the choir with Black Magic chocolates in memory of Blanche.

CHRISTMAS FAIR AND RAFFLE:  The money raised from the Christmas Fair and Raffle was £1154.34.  Thank you to all who worked so hard to make the Fair such a success whether providing stalls, refreshments or selling raffle tickets, and to those who supported the Fair on the day.

FLOWERS:  The flowers on 15 December were in memory of Mr and Mrs John Vernon, given by their daughter, Dorothy.

The flowers on 22 December were given by the families of Charles Frankland Williams, Grace Coles, Eddie and Elizabeth Fildes and

Eric and Pat Gregory and babies Connor and Robbie.

NUMBERS CLUB:  Winning numbers: 22 £50, 62 £30,29 £20 and 32 £15.  Thank you to all members for their support.
