A tribute to Rev Tina Gandhi

A Warm Tribute to Reverend Tina Gandhi

Friends,

As many of you know, our Minister, Reverend Tina Gandhi, is retiring from her duties here at Chowbent Unitarian Chapel and moving on to a new ministry and the challenges that may bring.

During her time with us, Tina has brought a renewed sense of warmth, openness, and possibility — not only within the Chapel, but also in our primary school and throughout the wider community. Her presence has encouraged kindness, lifted spirits, and helped us rediscover the strength of our shared values.

She has given us energy.

She has encouraged us.

She has given us hope.

Tina's connection with Chowbent Primary School has been a great success, with kindness competitions, a monthly magazine written and produced by the children and staff.

The warm spaces project for people to make new friends, enjoy shared company, and, oh yes, the cooked breakfast.

Tina has not only got all the projects underway, but has done so at no cost to the chapel by applying for and securing grants to fund them.

We had some interesting excursions to Elizabeth Gaskell's house and Cross Street Chapel.

On a personal note, as Chair of the Trustees, I want to add my own thanks to those already expressed.

Tina, your time with us at Chowbent has been marked by a generosity of spirit that has touched every corner of our Chapel life. You brought with you a calm steadiness, a willingness to listen, and a genuine care for people — qualities that have helped shape a more open, confident, and hopeful atmosphere among us.

I have appreciated your support, your patience, and your readiness to work collaboratively through whatever came our way.

And for all of this, and much more, I and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We offer a message of love and respect to you, Tina, and please be aware that there will always be a home at this Chapel for you.

So, on behalf of the congregation and the Trustees, may we offer Reverend Tina our deepest gratitude — and can I invite everyone to join with me in a warm and heartfelt round of applause in recognition of her service and her lasting impact on the life of this Chapel.
